Daily ActivitiesOn any given day, Montessori classes will include group time, during which the children sit around a circle as the Directress demonstrates a new activity, explains a concept, discusses weather or season or holiday, asks questions, leads singing, and/or reads stories. It will also include a work period in which children select the activities which appeal to them and work independently or with a friend. Adults watch, assist when needed, guide when necessary, write observation notes, and plan occasional field trips. There is also time for snacks, socializing and (weather permitting) playing outside. Click here to see a typical schedule for Full-Day and Half-Day children. For those children that attend all day, there is time for breakfast, lunch, rest or nap, free choice inside and outside, and more stories and music. In the summertime, swimming, picnics, and additional outdoor activities are included in the programs. |
