Nutrition

Eating is an important social experience, so our meals are simple, nutritious, and unhurried.  We stress social etiquette, good manners, and we encourage children to try unfamiliar foods.  Servings are small with plentiful seconds.  We offer a hot breakfast for children who attend school full time.  Breakfast is served in the dining room until 7:45 AM.  We serve morning and afternoon snacks in the classrooms.   Lunch is served in the dining room between 11:15 AM and 12:45 PM.

Meals are planned with the assistance of a dietitian, and weekly menus are posted.   We limit sugar, fats, and artificial additives as much as possible.  Healthy attitudes about diet are developed through discussion and involvement in the preparation of snacks and meals.  For birthdays, we recommend sending wholesome treats instead of cake.
