A Variety Of Programs

Today's dual career families have many demands upon their time.  We all search for a special place where a child can be a child, where the adults are caring and knowledgeable, and where the entire day is consistent.  We are here to meet these needs.

Infant "Nido" Program (6 weeks - 15 months)

We designed this program especially for parents who work and want to feel totally at ease about their infant's care.  We offer a home-like environment with a staff attuned to each infant's needs.  The infant's comfort and opportunity for growth are our primary concerns. An adult for each three children allows us to provide excellent care in a calm, supportive environment.

Toddler Program (16 months - 30 months)

What a wonderful age for exploring and manipulating!  Our staff understands a toddler's need for activity and independence as well as its need to work with concentration on challenging tasks.  Analysis of ongoing observations allow us to personalize the materials and interaction for your child.  The 6:1 ratio provides for the social interests of a toddler as he moves from self to others.

Day To Day Activities

Daily activities follow the cycle of the child's ideal day if he/she were at home.  Meals are home-made, simple and nourishing.  Eating is a social activity. babies are held and engaged while eating.  Children who can sit, join an adult at the weaning table.  Toddlers set the tables, serve, pour, and engage in all the "real work" that's part of mealtime.

Weather permitting, children spend part of each day out of doors.  They dig, plant gardens, walk on the nature trail, climb, swing, run, or just watch.

Inside, there are songs, stories, conversation, and information exchange during several group times each day.  Painting, puzzles, blocks, practical life exercises, and a wealth of materials for exploration may be enjoyed alone or with a friend.

Observation

We welcome parents and prospective parents to observe our infant-toddler community in operation.  the admission process includes a scheduled observation.  Once your child is enrolled, we encourage you to observe whenever you have the opportunity.   When you arrive, please join us quietly, have a seat, and enjoy without disrupting the children's activities.  This will give you a good sense of a normal day.

Conferences

We are happy to talk with you daily about your child's activities, eating, sleeping and toileting experiences. In addition, we schedule four formal conferences each year to discuss our observations of your child's development.  These conversations are important for both mother and father to attend to share their own observations, feelings and goals.  Additional parent-staff conferences are scheduled whenever there is a situation that needs attention.  Ongoing conversation is the basis for our cooperation in assisting your child's development.
